MWGP was issued a Geothermal Special Prospecting Authority with Acreage Option (GSPA-AO-002) in 2021. The title was located near Geraldton in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about 300 km north of Perth.

The required work program for GSPA-AO-002 was completed and an application to convert a portion of the GSPA into a Geothermal Exploration Permit was filed with the West Australian Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS).

DEMIRS has conducted the required consultation with petroleum lease holders and other stakeholders and Application STG EPA-0009 is currently pending award. The Geothermal Exploration Permit will cover an area of more than 1800 km2 in the northern end of the inland portion of the Perth Basin.
